Areas of Primary Responsibility

  • Maintains the Medication Management Program.
  • Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for residents.
  • Observes, records, and reports complications related to medications.
  • Determines and documents the effectiveness of medications.
  • Documents refusals of medications and reasons for non-administration.
  • Stores medications safely and accurately.
  • Maintains accountability measures for medications.
  • Documents daily shift-to-shift communication logs.
  • Demonstrates safe handling of controlled substances.
  • Inspects, cleans, audits, and monitors equipment and supplies.
  • Obtains and records vital signs during medication administration.
  • Restocks medication inventories and reorders medications as needed.
  • Documents pertinent information in the resident record and completes incident reports.
  • Communicates with residents, staff, and others accurately and factually.
  • Provides verbal encouragement and support to residents.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment.

Physical/Sensory Requirements

  • Lifts, stoops, carries, turns, assists high-risk residents, pushes medication carts, and works a flexible work schedule.
  • Sits, stands, bends, and moves continuously during work hours.
  • Lifts and/or carries up to 75 pounds.
  • Exposure to COVID, providing direct care to potential COVID-positive residents.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed course work and examinations for Resident Care Associate certification.
  • Maintains continuing education credits for RMA certification.
  • Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques.
  • CPR and First Aid certified or willing to obtain.
  • Understands and practices resident confidentiality.
  • Able to work weekends and flexible hours.
  • Show sincere compassion and genuine concern for seniors and their families.
  • Proficient in basic office equipment, including a personal computer.
