About the role
A Registered Dietitian (RD) will oversee nutritional care in a skilled nursing facility.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor residents' nutritional status, develop care plans, and provide recommendations to medical staff.
- Evaluate residents' needs related to nutrition support, skin health, and weight management.
- Coordinate procurement of nutrition supplies and oral supplements with vendors and staff.
- Ensure diet modifications are followed during meal service and educate residents, families, and staff on nutrition concepts.
- Review and update dietary care plans to maintain high-quality care.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to review residents' care plans and adjust as needed.
- Work with speech-language pathologists to provide appropriate diets for residents with dysphagia.
- Review menu changes for compliance with policies and regulations, update diet orders and menus daily.
- Supervise dietary staff and conduct routine audits to ensure quality nutrition care and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate daily with the team to deliver optimal resident care.
Requirements
- Registered Dietitian certification required.
- Previous experience in a nursing home setting preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal guidelines.
- Proficiency with EMR software and computer-based menu systems.
