Smith Ranch Skilled Nursing and Rehab, a Generations Healthcare facility, is seeking a Part-Time Registered Dietitian to join our team in San Rafael, CA.
About the Role
The primary role of the Registered Dietitian is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Food Services Department. This includes ensuring compliance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility. The Dietitian will ensure quality nutritional services are provided daily and that the food services department operates in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s Food Services Department, its programs, and activities.
- Ensure physician orders are followed and make recommendations for changes as needed.
- Coordinate food service activities with other departments (e.g., Nursing, Environmental, Activities, Social Services).
- Complete nutritional assessments, MDS’s, and Care Plans in Point Click Care (electronic medical health record system).
- Develop, implement, and maintain written departmental policies and ensure staff adherence.
- Assist food services staff in developing and using procedures for food service activities, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain and file Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous chemicals used in the department.
- Train staff on MSDS use and oversee the plan of care in care conferences.
- Monitor patient progress toward nutritional goals, document outcomes in progress notes, and adjust care plans as needed.
- Interpret department policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, and government agencies.
- Perform administrative duties, including completing forms, reports, evaluations, and studies to control equipment and supplies.
- Keep patient information current in Point Click Care for food, nutrition, and dining details.
- Review and recommend revisions to department policies, procedure manuals, and job descriptions annually.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies and equipment, and ensure food service areas are sanitary, orderly, and safe.
- Conduct regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of duties.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related medical facility.
- Training in cost control, food management, and diet therapy.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a dietitian in California.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies.
- Knowledge of dietary practices, procedures, and regulations governing dietary functions in nursing facilities.
- Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel.
- Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Food Services Department.
Pay
$50–55 per hour, based on experience.
Schedule
Part-time, PRN/hybrid with flexible hours and days.
