About the Role
Under limited supervision, performs professional public health services of moderate difficulty in planning, organizing, and implementing public health programs; this position has Program Specific responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Conducts nutrition and breastfeeding assessments for High Risk participants and provides evidence-based counseling and specialized formula authorization.
- Maintains reports, may create presentations and training materials.
- Collaborates with Health Care Providers, as needed, to ensure proper food benefits are issued.
- Assists with documenting nutrition/breastfeeding assessments, care plans, and follow-ups in the database.
- May coordinate and/or facilitate nutrition education and training for new and existing program staff.
- May coordinate and shall participate in outreach activities.
- Assists with observation of staff for compliance utilizing state WIC-provided observation forms.
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality and program integrity.
- May supervise assigned staff in the absence of a direct supervisor.
- Maintains registration and required licensing credentials by completing continuing education units.
- Works as assigned on a rotation basis in permanent and satellite WIC Clinics within Yuma County WIC's geographical area.
- Travels to community sites, facilities, and institutions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.
