Job Responsibility
- Mentors and trains team members.
- Accurately and responsively performs varied clinical tasks and problems of minimal complexity.
- Interviews patients and/or family for nutritional history, obtains food preferences, assesses patients, and documents in patients' medical record.
- Conducts nutritional assessments, develops and implements patient-specific care plans, and recommends nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
- Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians, ensuring accuracy of diet orders.
- Provides nutritional guidance, education, and counseling to patients and their families, calculates nutrient content of tube feeding and dietary intakes as ordered by physicians.
- Contributes to changes to patient's menu, including patient food preferences, and assists in overseeing food service workers in proper food handling and portion control.
- Supports clinical functions to assist clinical team members and department/unit management with daily operations.
- Prepares, presents, and conducts individual and group education classes, and refers clients to community services as needed.
- Participates in and promotes Northwell wellness initiatives.
- Develops and utilizes effective lines of communication regarding nutrition information within the program and community.
- Provides in-services to culinary, food service, and interdisciplinary teams regarding therapeutic diets and related topics.
- Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement related tasks, including data collection and executing tasks related to it, as directed.
- Solves or escalates operational problems and technical issues to senior team members and management; modifies existing tools or processes.
- Performs related duties as required.
Job Qualification
- Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, required.
- Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration, required.
- Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN), as needed.
- Advanced/specialized certifications, as needed.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

The salary range for this position is $70,470.00 - $116,870.00/year.
