Registered Dietitian

Job Responsibility

• Mentors and trains team members.
• Accurately and responsively performs varied clinical tasks and problems of minimal complexity.
• Interviews patients and/or family for nutritional history, obtains food preferences, assesses patients, and documents in patients' medical record.
• Conducts nutritional assessments, develops and implements patient-specific care plans, and recommends nutrition care plans to medical staff for review and consideration.
• Recommends therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplemental feedings to physicians, ensuring accuracy of diet orders.
• Provides nutritional guidance, education, and counseling to patients and their families, calculates nutrient content of tube feeding and dietary intakes as ordered by physicians.
• Contributes to changes to patient's menu, including patient food preferences, and assists in overseeing food service workers in proper food handling and portion control.
• Supports clinical functions to assist clinical team members and department/unit management with daily operations.
• Prepares, presents, and conducts individual and group education classes, and refers clients to community services as needed.
• Participates in and promotes Northwell wellness initiatives.
• Develops and utilizes effective lines of communication regarding nutrition information within the program and community.
• Provides in-services to culinary, food service, and interdisciplinary teams regarding therapeutic diets and related topics.
• Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement related tasks, including data collection and executing tasks related to it, as directed.
• Solves or escalates operational problems and technical issues to senior team members and management; modifies existing tools or processes.
• Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualification

• Master’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience, required.
• Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the Commissions on Dietetic Registration, required.
• Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN), as needed.
• Advanced/specialized certifications, as needed.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.

When determining a team member’s base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).

The salary range for this position is $70,470.00 - $116,870.00/year.
