Responsibilities
- Affirms medical nutrition therapy based on ADA, ADA, ASPEN, AHA, Cancer Society, USDA, FDA guidelines.
- Evaluates dietary and health needs, develops meal plans, assesses their effectiveness, promotes nutrition through community outreach, and stays updated on nutritional and food science research.
- Provides nutrition counseling and education tailored to individual patient needs.
- Assists other healthcare professionals in establishing nutrition care standards and setting realistic patient goals.
- Trains patients on selecting foods for health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Conducts nutrition education classes such as diabetes classes and weight management sessions.
- Serves as a community resource, offering information about available programs.
- Makes in-house nutrition education materials for staff and patients.
- Shares nutrition education materials or conducts in-services/meetings as requested.
- Responds promptly to phone and email inquiries.
- Enters nutrition notes into CPRS immediately after completing assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science and Nutrition or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
- Current Registered Dietitian certification from the American Dietetic Association.
- Active, current valid licensure/certification required by the state or work state.
- Two or more years of experience as a dietitian or nutritionist.
- Knowledge of dietary management, safety/sanitation, food production, and nutrition principles.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Applications and other relevant software.
- Excellent customer service skills, tact, and professionalism.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to federal and state laws and company policies.
