About the role
As a Staff Registered Dietitian (RD) on a 1099 contract basis, you will provide personalized nutrition plans and medical nutrition therapy to individuals through telemedicine Nutrition visits on the Teladoc platform. This role allows you to work independently, set your own schedule, and leverage your expertise to help clients thrive—supported by Teladoc’s technology and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Patient-facing support (85%)
- Analyze patients' health status, goals, and dietary restrictions through virtual services (audio and video).
- Track dietary intake and progress, and provide education on maintaining a balanced diet while delivering superb clinical care.
- Utilize Teladoc-approved resources for member-facing support documents and programs, adhering to quality standards.
- Refer patients to other specialists as needed, whether on or off the platform.
- Demonstrate knowledge of other services available to members both internally at Teladoc and externally with health plans or community resources.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure members receive optimal care.
- Comply with all Teladoc policies, procedures, and protocols, including Nutrition service line policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Case documentation (10%)
- Complete thorough and accurate record-keeping within 24 hours of member visits using the ADIME (Assessment, Diagnoses, Intervention, and Monitoring/Evaluation) process.
- Other duties as assigned (5%)
Responsibilities may shift based on business needs.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Registered Dietitian (RD) credential in at least one U.S. state (note: Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia do not offer state RD licensure, so licensure in an additional state is required).
- Licensed Dietitian (LD) or Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) credential.
- Maintain all state RD licensure in respective specialty.
- Master’s degree in science or related health specialty (unless RD/RDN license was obtained prior to January 1st, 2024).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a licensed RD/RDN working independently.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills, including documentation using the ADIME process.
- Ability to build rapport quickly in a virtual visit setting.
- Ability to provide at least 10 hours of weekly availability to support members.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensure in one or more of the following states: Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia, or Wyoming.

Pay
Compensation for this role pays up to $90/hour.
