About the role

The Registered Dietitian provides individual and group nutrition counseling to high-risk WIC participants and manages the issuance of special formulas. They also assist with clinic operations, staff training, quality assurance reviews, and serve as a preceptor for staff and student interns.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual nutrition counseling to high-risk participants
  • Approve issuance of special formulas
  • Assist with the WIC Certification Specialist Program
  • Review all documentation for WIC eligibility criteria with the participant/guardian and assign appropriate food packages
  • Provide one on one and group nutrition counseling to WIC participants
  • Perform anthropometric measures and lab work as needed for WIC services
  • Maintain client records
  • Assist in Nutrition Education, Special Projects, Staff Trainings, and Outreach plans as needed
  • Assist with patient flow, making appointments, issuing benefits, and other duties as needed
  • Maintain standards, instructing, review work, and coordinating activities
  • Participate in quality improvement needs and report to supervisor
  • Check email, memos, and complete appropriate documentation within required timelines
  • Provide counseling to high-risk participants as per policy
  • Provide consultation regarding the appropriate issuance of special prescriptive formulas
  • Keep Clinical Supervisor informed of changes to the schedule due to staffing issues
  • Assist with quarterly Quality Assurance reviews of all WIC clinics
  • Observe and contribute feedback on the day-to-day activities of all clinic staff
  • Provide staff training on nutrition-related topics and nutrition assessment procedures
  • Serve as preceptor for WCS program and assist with staff development
  • Serve as a preceptor for student interns

Qualifications

Registered Dietitian with 2 years of previous work experience in nutrition or health services preferred.

Skills

  • Reasoning Development: apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret technical instructions, and deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • Language Development: interpret and understand medical and technological journals, prepare business letters, expositions, summaries, and reports with proper format
  • Math Development: solve mathematical problems using techniques such as algebra, calculus, and statistics

Physical Requirements

The position requires frequent sitting, typing, walking, and standing. Occasional needs include driving, operating equipment, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, or squatting. Rare needs include reaching above shoulders, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, grasping, gripping, finger dexterity, and eye/hand/foot coordination.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, some Saturdays, 40-hour workweek with a flexible schedule requiring some late nights and Saturdays.

Pay

$54,080 - $61,360 per year.
