About the role
This position manages the clinical nutrition system to ensure optimum nutrition for all residents at the Puller Veterans Center. The role involves supporting the Food Service Director and working with the Dietary Service Program Assistant to ensure the delivery of high-quality food services.
Responsibilities
- Manages clinical nutrition system to ensure optimum nutrition for all residents
- Interviews new admissions and develops initial nutritional care plans, reviewing them quarterly
- Attends resident care conferences to ensure all areas of the care plan are being carried out
- Supports the Food Service Director in purchasing, production, and service of food in a timely manner
- Assists in purchasing supplies and equipment
- Trains Dietary Service Program Assistant in entering budget figures, menus, resident care, and dietary notes
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the Dietary department's mission and the overall needs of the facility
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in clinical Dietetics
- Certified Dietary Manager required
- Driver's License required
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of operations of the Food Service Department, including budget controls, personnel actions, quality food production, sanitation, safety, and nutritional care. They will also have experience in hiring, terminations, orientating, training, and counseling of department employees, as well as work schedules.
Skills
The candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the Department Head and supervision to achieve department objectives. They should also have a positive attitude, be respectful, and courteous in interactions with coworkers, supervisors, residents, and families.

The Commonwealth of Virginia offers a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $85,000, as well as opportunities for professional growth and development.

The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000.
Schedule
The schedule for this position will be determined by the hiring manager, but may require flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as well as to assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
