Job Summary

The Registered Cardiac Sonographer performs and reports comprehensive echocardiography studies to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease. Responsibilities include conducting cardiac ultrasound examinations in accordance with ASE and IAC standards, evaluating and documenting findings, reviewing patient cardiac histories, maintaining quality assurance standards, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping. This role also supports trainee education, communicates urgent findings to interpreting cardiologists, and participates in continuing education to maintain clinical expertise.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited (or accreditation eligible) cardiovascular ultrasound degree program and/or qualifying experience in accordance with IAC guidelines
  • Registered in non-invasive imaging with active status registry from ARDMS or CCI
  • New graduates will have 1 year after graduating to obtain registry
  • Specialized Knowledge: Advanced use of Doppler-continuous wave, pulse, color flow
  • Ability to provide professional preliminary reports

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited (or accreditation eligible) cardiovascular ultrasound degree program and/or qualifying experience in accordance with IAC guidelines
  • Credentials/Licenses: Registered in non-invasive imaging with active status registry from ARDMS or CCI
  • Specialized Knowledge: Advanced use of Doppler-continuous wave, pulse, color flow
  • Ability to provide professional preliminary reports
