About the role
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) position involves assisting in the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behavioral needs across various sites within the district. The RBT collaborates with school staff to coach and implement behavior interventions, collects and documents data on behavior, and provides training to teachers and paraprofessionals.
Responsibilities
- Designs and implements multi-faceted behavior interventions based on data
- Absorb and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst
- Read and identify the essential components of a written BIP and IEP relating to behavior areas of need
- Model and train teachers and paraprofessionals on implementing Behavior Plans
- Assist teachers and staff with behavior data collection measures
- Collaborate with the BCBA in analyzing and interpreting data
- Provide feedback and explanations to case managers/teachers about interventions
- Inform staff on general ABA skills/principles and evidence-based practices
- Travel to multiple sites as necessary
- Develop reinforcement identification procedures
- Understand and work with various support systems in the school and community
- Follow district policies and guidelines regarding the student code of conduct
- Understand and follow Special Education regulations, including Least Restrictive Environment
- Show confidentiality when dealing with students, parents, and school employees
- Coach others to apply effective behavior management techniques
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- 2-3 years of experience in K-12 education settings
- Currently certified or willing to become certified as a Registered Behavior Technician within one year of employment
