Responsibilities

  • Supervises a staff of survey managers and department leaders.
  • Captures workload, schedules, and needs to support high utilization across the region while providing cross-training opportunities to staff.
  • Coordinates with Survey Department Managers, office staff & field staff to provide leadership and management within the survey departments and on large projects.
  • Manages and directs key complex projects - providing leadership and management within the survey departments and on large projects.
  • Follows policy & procedures to ensure all deliverables are done accurately and efficiently.
  • Prepares budgets / proposals, marketing / business development and monthly invoicing.
  • Works both independently and in group environments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, AAS degree in Land Surveying preferred.
  • Active Land Surveying license required for Virginia or ability to obtain; Multi-State licensure is a plus.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of survey experience and project management.
  • Active in Virginia Association of Surveyors and strong survey network.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work and interact with clients.
  • Diverse survey experience including: Boundary surveys, topographic surveys, route surveys, construction stakeout and transportation surveys.
  • Proficient with GPS/GNS systems and use of RTK/VRS and post processing of survey data (Static - Network Least Squares Reduction).
  • Knowledge of/experience with laser scanning is a plus.
  • Able to perform deed research, process field data collector files; resolve boundaries and prepare CAD files, metes and bounds descriptions, and final plats.
  • Able to perform all aspects of an ALTA Survey.
  • Dependable, conscientious, self-motivated and driven.
  • Able to work more than 40 hours per week as required.
  • Able to do short term travel.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.
  • Pass a mandatory drug test.
