About the role

The successful candidate will oversee and maintain the daily business operations in a small to medium-sized setting, including check-in, cash handling, and patient collections. This position requires a strong focus on financial metrics, compliance, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise non-clinical non-exempt staff, providing direction and support to ensure departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Interview, select, orient, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; evaluate performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Coordinate daily departmental operations, ensuring customer service standards are met. Ensure adequate coverage within the department.
  • Understand and achieve a high level of competence in all support staff roles, acting in a staffing role and providing coverage as needed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the check-in process, missing charge reports, and cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
  • Serve as a liaison to other areas in issue and process resolution. Keep the supervisor informed of progress and assist the Regional Manager with clarification when needed.
  • Afford assistance to the Regional Manager with the implementation of new operational and business procedures and systems in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Monitor staff understanding of procedures and perform quality checks using available reporting to ensure that new processes are implemented correctly. Provide updates to management on the status of the implementation process.
  • Review financial and quality reports from the Regional Manager and provide feedback and performance management to staff as needed to address deficiencies and meet financial goals for co-pay and patient balance collections, including returned mail, insurance card scans, waiver forms, and referral management.
  • Be the primary contact for patient inquiries, collections, problems, and complaints. Refer interdepartmental and clinical issues to appropriate resources.
  • Engage with site-level leadership to communicate financial strategies, goals, and objectives to optimize revenue. Collaborate across departments to support efficient patient throughput and optimal patient experience.
  • Work with Cash Management to ensure cash handling protocols and procedures are met. Resolve daily cash reconciliation reporting variances. Schedule staff, resolve timesheet and payroll issues for staff.
  • Ensure that the assigned area complies with established policies, quality assurance programs, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate equipment and supplies for the assigned area.
  • Perform similar or related duties as required or directed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of patient financial experience, including providing direction and training of work and some aspects of performance management to lower-level staff.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Epic, and billing systems.
  • Access to reliable transportation and valid US driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Proven comprehensive knowledge of insurance concepts, coverage, and administration processes.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills needed with the ability to interact effectively with patients and medical professionals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and make decisions, exercising sound, discerning judgement in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.

Skills

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Epic and billing systems.

Benefits

The salary for this role will range from $49,700 to $88,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
