About the Role

This position is ideal for candidates with a proven regional sales management background in the food processing or packaging industry, particularly those experienced with technical capital equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Market Development, Account Management, or a similar discipline.
  • Industrial capital sales experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and computer skills.
  • Successful customer-facing experience in sales (and ideally marketing).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Projects a positive attitude with customers and co-workers.
  • Perseverance to continue after rejection.
  • Good time management, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license; minimum 50% travel required.
  • Desirable: Experience within a capital equipment manufacturing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Actively seek and develop new opportunities through cold calling, email, trade shows, and trade associations.
  • Identify key accounts in the region and develop action plans to gain Loma exposure and penetration.
  • Visit and maintain contact with customers and prospective customers to understand their needs and align them with Loma offerings.
  • General account development, managing activities, and converting opportunities to closure.
  • Maintain customer accounts in Loma’s CRM system, including customer status, activity, and forecasting; perform routine reporting functions.
  • Become an expert in the application and fundamentals of Loma and Lock products, including demonstrating confidence in PC-based simulations.
  • Execute consultative sales activities focusing on Loma’s added-value differentiators: legacy, company, performance, durability, features, and options.
  • Gather competitive information and communicate it to Loma’s management; actively seek customer referrals, testimonials, and leads.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in ‘hands-on’ specification of mechanical systems and instrumentation, including measuring, conveyor basics, and understanding of US and metric measurement systems.
  • Conduct ongoing research to maintain a working knowledge of the industries and key accounts Loma sells into, including their current state and critical issues.
  • Operate independently and professionally, with a well-groomed and articulate presence, while efficiently using Loma’s resources.
  • Participate in trade shows as an attendee or by hosting Loma’s presence, including set-up and tear-down activities.
  • Annually participate in the planning process to develop realistic and achievable growth goals for the region; take ownership of delivering those goals.
  • Remain cognizant of prospecting, quoting, and bookings levels, demonstrating proactive responses to adverse trends.
  • Proficiently use a PC in a mobile environment, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, CRM, and email applications.
  • Enthusiastically participate in Loma ‘toolbox’ initiatives, particularly applying the 80/20 principles to the region.
  • Travel occasionally outside the region for trade shows or to Loma’s facilities, particularly in Carol Stream, IL, for product training and meetings.
  • Provide a monthly sales report to the Sales Manager.
  • Carry out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor that are related to the role.
