About the Role

MULTIVAC, Inc., an industry leader in packaging solutions, is seeking a Regional Sales Manager for our Materials Division to generate sales to both prospective and existing customers throughout the Ohio Valley region (IN, KY, TN, OH, MI, Western PA, and Western NY). This is an independent contributor position responsible for the complete sales process, including prospecting, reporting, quoting, and closing business in accordance with sales goals. The role requires approximately 60% travel, with a flexible schedule to accommodate customer needs, trade shows, meetings, and other responsibilities.

Incumbent must be located within an hour's driving distance of a major airport.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential sales opportunities with prospective and existing customers through personal sales calls, lead follow-ups, and other prospecting methods.
  • Utilize company resources, including marketing tools, demonstration facilities, and sales associates, to advance the sales process.
  • Attend material test trials to strengthen relationships with operations teams and explore further business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Customer Support Representatives and Forecast and Pricing Analysts for materials forecasting, quoting, order processing, and trials.
  • Use CRM systems according to established procedures.
  • Work with equipment sales and management teams to ensure problem-free material performance and promote sales in the defined territory.
  • Provide necessary information and documentation for proposals and orders, managing customer expectations for trials and orders.
  • Act as the Business Manager for the region or key accounts, handling issues from initial trials to receivables collections and quality concerns in partnership with relevant departments.
  • Monitor and report competitive activity in the assigned area.
  • Operate within the annual expense budget and meet individual sales targets.
  • Attend trade shows, sales meetings, industry events, and other activities as directed by management.
  • Support Regional Sales Associates and stay informed about industry trends and effective selling practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least five years of sales experience, with a minimum of one year selling packaging materials.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and contact management systems.
  • Current valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel as required.

Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members.
  • Strong math skills, including calculations for discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and basic algebra/geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to wet/humid, cold, or hot conditions (non-weather related).
  • Occasionally loud noise levels in the work environment.
  • Frequent travel to customer sites, including exposure to food processing, meat portioning, and other messy tasks.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds.
  • Required vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
