Key Duties And Essential Functions
- Lead, coach, develop, and manage the regional outside sales team to achieve revenue, margin, and growth objectives.
- Drive regional sales performance through strategic planning, pipeline management, forecasting, and opportunity development.
- Collaborate with sales personnel throughout the region to ensure all projects, bids, and opportunities are actively pursued and properly managed.
- Conduct regular sales reviews and opportunity assessments to identify risks, gaps, and growth opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, consulting engineers, contractors, industrial customers, distributors, and key industry stakeholders.
- Serve as a technical and commercial product expert across all manufacturer product offerings represented by the company.
- Continuously develop product knowledge and educate customers and internal teams on product capabilities, applications, and value propositions.
- Partner with manufacturer representatives and suppliers to support sales growth, training initiatives, product launches, and strategic opportunities.
- Attend and represent the company at local, regional, and national trade shows, conferences, industry events, and customer meetings.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, market segments, and customer relationships to expand regional market share.
- Support complex project pursuits through specification development, solution positioning, customer presentations, and strategic account planning.
- Collaborate with engineering, service, project management, and operations teams to ensure customer expectations are met and projects are successfully executed.
- Maintain awareness of market conditions, competitive activity, customer trends, and emerging technologies to identify growth opportunities and risks.
- Develop annual territory and regional sales plans aligned with company growth objectives.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, and professional development of sales personnel.
- Ensure CRM systems, sales pipelines, forecasts, and customer records are maintained accurately and consistently.
- Support key customer negotiations, contract discussions, and strategic account initiatives.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement throughout the sales organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
- 7+ years of progressive sales experience within municipal water, wastewater, industrial process equipment, pumps, valves, chemical feed systems, controls, or related industries.
- Prior sales leadership or team management experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of municipal and industrial sales processes, specification-driven selling, and project-based sales environments.
- Proven ability to build customer relationships, develop business opportunities, and lead high-performing sales teams.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to travel throughout the assigned region and attend industry events and trade shows as required.
