About the role
Provide on-the-ground technical and operational support, overseeing professional safety and fleet management services to ensure the company operates in a lawful and ethical manner. This includes adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act, Road Transport Act, Governance Codes (Combined Code) of practice, ABInBev Safety Policy and Standards, and Corporate Governance. The role focuses on mitigating loss and safety risks across ABInBev operations to protect stakeholder interests.
Responsibilities
- Implement the Zone/BU safety and fleet strategy.
- Track and course-correct regional fleet and safety performance.
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and municipal by-laws.
- Maintain relationships with local authorities and establish interaction routines.
- Provide sustainable fleet and safety support to regional warehouses, tier 2 truck fleet services, tier 1 fleet support, and commercial operations.
- Support FLEET/SAFETY supervisors through regular sessions.
- Provide safety leadership and guidance to regional business units.
- Drive the DPO Safety/Fleet pillar rollout and develop standards aligned with DPO requirements and local legislation.
- Develop and maintain regional safety standards to minimize losses, ensure legal compliance (e.g., OHS Act, Environmental Act, COID Act), and limit legal liability.
- Ensure accurate reporting on CR360 for all Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) incidents, fatalities, and Serious Injury Observations (SIOs).
- Monitor and advise on Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (SHE) program performance.
- Ensure fleet availability accuracy for the region and develop action plans.
- Manage internal self-audits and close all audit findings.
- Identify SHE training needs, arrange, and coordinate legal training for employees and contractors.
- Ensure fleet master data accuracy on SAP.
- Plan Certificate of Fitness (COF), licensing, and load testing to avoid equipment unavailability.
- Ensure compliance with the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996.
- Implement and execute all requirements in the National Transport Policy.
- Manage expenditure against the budget (VLC) with monthly Latest Estimate (LE) aligned to period phasing.
Requirements
- Relevant 3-year tertiary qualification.
- 2–5 years of fleet and safety functional work experience.
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993.
- Knowledge of the South African Road Traffic Act and governance.
