About the role

The Registered Nurse serves as both the System Access Center Coordinator and the System Patient Logistics Nurse Coordinator for the Regional Referral Center, providing clinical leadership, coordinating complex patient transfers, managing system alerts, and overseeing access center operations to ensure timely, safe, and efficient patient flow throughout Premier Health.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support all roles within the RRC Access Call Center through cross‑training.
• Focus on clinical assessment and identification of needs for complex patient transfers.
• Provide leadership and guidance to Access Center coordinators.
• Share critical expertise and give direction to Access coordinators.
• Serve as the initial point of contact for internal and external customers of the Regional Referral Center.
• Communicate with referring and accepting physicians to understand and plan for complex transfer needs.
• Use clinical knowledge to suggest and drive the admission process.
• Provide guidance, leadership, and clinical expertise to the System Access Center Coordinator (ASCC).
• ASCC duties: coordinate all Premier Health calls (paging requests, consults, direct admits, transfers); enter and maintain provider on‑call schedules in the approved database.
• Manage and guide Access Center Coordinators.
• Oversee the process for all system alerts (Stroke, AMI, hip fracture, sepsis) ensuring proper notification to caregivers via multiple applications for rapid response.
• Ensure professional oversight and coordination of alert management across the Premier Health System.
• Coordinate movement of patients throughout the Premier Health System and facilitate outside transfers into Premier Health.
• Apply clinical expertise and critical thinking to create seamless transfer processes for internal and external customers.
• Gather medical information pertinent to the required level of care to guide physicians in selecting appropriate care settings.
• Ensure patients are placed on the correct level of care according to the comprehensive plan of care for quality, safe care and a positive patient experience.
• Cross‑trained in Central Logic application for rapid bed placement; monitor bed placement using EPIC bed boards; collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and EVS to expedite discharges.
• Work to decrease length of stay and reduce patients leaving without being seen, thereby increasing patient satisfaction.
• Proactively engage referring facilities to drive emergent and non‑emergent referrals to all Premier Health facilities.
• Continually evaluate capacity needs and collaborate with the Regional Access Center and Regional Transportation to ensure seamless transfers.
• Identify and address capacity needs as they arise.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS certification required at time of hire.
• Minimum 3 years of acute care hospital RN experience (ED or ICU experience preferred).

Schedule

Part‑time nights, 7:00 pm – 7:30 am, 48 hours per pay period.
