About the role

The Regional Point of Care Specialist (RPOCS) is a results-oriented professional responsible for driving growth and achieving sales plans in the LeadCare and other rapid point-of-care diagnostic product lines within an assigned region covering Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi. This role requires approximately 65% travel, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, manage, and work the assigned territory to maximize growth in sales revenue and profit.
  • Identify and close new business opportunities within the point-of-care (POC) diagnostic space.
  • Integrate Group Purchasing, IDN, National Clinical Reference Lab, and Local Health Delivery Network strategies into the POC sales strategy and revenue growth plan.
  • Use company resources judiciously to achieve sales plans across all POC product categories.
  • Conduct a minimum of 15 sales meetings/calls per week to maximize productivity and business opportunities.
  • Apply the Meridian Selling Process to determine priorities, develop regional POC growth plans, and build account strategies.
  • Maintain and expand working relationships with distribution partners within the region.
  • Develop and drive account-specific objectives in top accounts to expand business.
  • Learn and maintain an in-depth understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Record all business account-related activities, next steps, account profiles, opportunities, and key contact information in CRM, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Use the CRM monthly forecast as a tool to measure, track, and plan new business opportunities.
  • Represent Meridian Bioscience at trade shows and conventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with other internal departments to support sales objectives.
  • Attend regional and territory meetings and conference calls to increase visibility of Meridian’s POC product line.
  • Build relationships with physicians, laboratorians, and other key decision influencers to support product expansion.
  • Develop and maintain excellent selling skills, including cold calling, lead follow-up, presentations, objection handling, negotiating, closing, and account management.
  • Develop an appropriately sized sales funnel and forecast new business closes accurately.
  • Understand and efficiently manage the contract process.
  • Incorporate Meridian Leadership Attributes into daily activities.
  • Maintain sales tools and equipment, including company vehicle, sales samples, and literature in good condition.
  • Manage inventory of sales materials and order replacements as needed.
  • Ensure timely return of equipment in the same condition it was received.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to the Sr. Director, Global POC.
  • Provide constructive feedback when requested.
  • Interface with customers to resolve inquiries as needed.
  • Plan regional coverage and submit itineraries to the National Sales Director, POC within specified time frames.
  • Conduct field training sessions and ride-alongs with new hires.
  • Take a leadership role in regional conference calls and meetings.
  • Participate in National Sales Meetings and various training sessions.
  • Represent Meridian Bioscience at regional and national trade shows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or Science.
  • 4+ years of sales experience or equivalent background in the laboratory and/or diagnostics market.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain favorable customer relationships (external and internal).
  • Professional and consultative selling skills.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency (Word, Excel) and experience with CRM systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to balance workloads, meet critical deadlines, and perform under pressure in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work hours outside the normal workday (including evenings or weekends) to achieve sales goals.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans that deliver results.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing in the diagnostics industry.
