About the role
This remote role supports Northern California, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado. The Regional People Partner facilitates and manages employee relations, provides compliance guidance to management teams, and helps mitigate human capital risk through understanding and application of employment law. This position reports to the People Resources Business Partner.
Responsibilities
- Employee Relations (ER): Respond to, investigate, and resolve ER issues thoroughly and in a timely manner. Identify trends and potential risks, escalating as needed. Provide training on conducting investigations, proper documentation, and escalation protocols based on severity. Handle a high volume of employee relations cases, prioritizing by severity and risk.
- Management Guidance: Offer compliance-focused guidance to managers on HR-related questions, including progressive discipline, terminations, wage and hour inquiries, and policies. Advise and train managers on best practices for employee relations and conflict resolution. Develop additional training as needed.
- Wage & Hour Compliance and Training: Identify regional trends and gaps in understanding local regulations to pinpoint training opportunities. Support the Senior Compliance Manager in creating content and training leaders on compliance requirements. Stay aware of pending state/local legislation pertinent to the region.
- Regional People Support: Serve as the key contact for all regional People inquiries. Collaborate with the Shack Support Center to facilitate resolutions or redirect to cross-functional partners. Provide technical HRIS support in Workday and payroll-related support (in partnership with the payroll team). Manage ADA-compliant interactive process accommodation requests and the background check process in compliance with local jurisdictional requirements.
- Auditing and Legal Requests: Conduct HR audits across the region to drive awareness and accountability, tracking metrics and identifying opportunities for training and process improvement. Fulfill legal requests as needed. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Experience with complex people issues and investigations.
- Experience thoroughly documenting investigations and performance issues; using case management systems.
- Experience training both virtually and in person.
- Experience managing accommodations under ADA and state-level accommodation guidelines.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment while mitigating risk.
- Clear, concise, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree (required).
- Master’s Degree (preferred).
- Preferred certifications: SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR.
- 4–6 years of relevant work experience.
- Multi-unit and multi-state/jurisdiction retail or restaurant support experience.
- Experience managing a high volume of complex employee relations cases.

Pay
$94,806.00 – $124,476.00 per year.
