About the role
The Regional Operations Manager supports local practice management with the general day-to-day operations for current clinics and any future acquisitions. This position is based in New York or Maryland and requires 75% travel via car/plane.
Responsibilities
- Supervises operations of 15+ Blue River PetCare hospitals with goal of generating revenue and profit growth.
- Works with local management team and veterinarians to ensure a high standard of patient care is being practiced.
- Acts as liaison between hospitals and Blue River management, reporting visit findings and offering recommendations on how to improve profitability.
- Provides staffing support in the areas of inventory, scheduling, compliance, training, recruiting, and best retention practices when necessary.
- Maintains proficiencies on Blue River PetCare platforms and remains current on all policies.
- Coaches local management team on managing revenue & expenses, how to staff and schedule appropriately, management of inventory levels and pricing, along with other administrative functions.
- Fosters a positive and productive work environment at local clinics.
- Recruiting, onboarding, and training of practice managers.
- Pairs with Human Resources team on employee relations, compliance, issue mitigation and best practices.
- Pairs with corporate operations on capital expenditures, liability issues, and vendor considerations.
- Performs duties of practice manager for hospitals as needed.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
- Three years of veterinary management AND two years of multi-unit management experience required.
- Experience managing profit and loss statement and delivering positive financial results required.
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to take initiative and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organization, attentional to detail, and written/verbal communication skills.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding personnel information.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to travel to clinics as needed.
- Must be licensed and able to operate motor vehicle and travel via automobile or air.
- Position requires both stationary sitting and to be on feet for substantial periods of time.
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move about clinics to access inventory, check controlled substances cabinets, and inspect grounds.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with Practice Managers and co-workers at the Corporate office using email and phone. Must be able to exchange clear, accurate information in these situations.
- Occasionally moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent keyboarding/use of computer for data entry.
Education
A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
Skills
- Versed in veterinary practice management systems.
- Intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of AVMA’s code of ethics.
- Knowledge of DEA and OSHA regulations.
- Strong financial acumen.
