About the role

As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance-related tasks, ensuring protocols and procedures are followed, and communicating issues and needs for capital expenditure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the maintenance department
  • Oversee documentation, Tels, workorders, physical review, plant operation, building construction, fire alarm, sprinklers, electrical, plumbing, etc.
  • Absorb administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for directing the maintenance department
  • Cook up maintenance services and activities with other related departments
  • Aid in establishing a preventive maintenance program
  • Repair facility/resident property as necessary
  • Inspect storage rooms, workrooms, utility/janitorial closets, etc., for upkeep and supply control
  • Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as necessary or as may be directed
  • Keep abreast of economic conditions/situations and recommend to the Administrator adjustments in maintenance services that assure the continued ability to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • 5-10 years of building experience as a maintenance director
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to conduct a background and drug screen
  • Knowledge of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations
  • Licensure in accordance with current applicable standards, codes, labor laws, etc.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
  • Knowledge of maintenance practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing maintenance functions in nursing care facilities
  • Ability to plan and carry out programs in repair, new construction, and equipment installation
  • Ability to relate information concerning a resident's condition

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility, which include a medical and physical examination
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum of 50 feet
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
