Regional Health Market Leader - Great Lakes Region
About the role
This position focuses on providing leadership for the Great Lakes Region of CannonDesign, concentrating on the growth of the health market within that region. Key responsibilities include developing and leading high-performance teams, contributing to the success of the firm, and integrating various design services.
Responsibilities
- Leverage market intelligence and work with Market Leaders to develop and implement a business plan for future growth strategies.
- Position CannonDesign for new business opportunities with premier target clients and opportunities that advance our brand and achieve top line targets.
- Lead, engage, and partner with clients on billable project-specific work, advancing innovative solutions that differentiate the firm and foster strong long-term client relationships.
- Act as a leading voice for the region both externally and internally, promoting the firm and its work through speaking events, writing, and other activities.
- Develop and advance strategic initiatives and client pursuit strategies that lead to the growth of the regional market.
- Identify and position CannonDesign in the marketplace and promote the full range of our integrated design services, supporting the advancement of Living-Centered Design in all phases of client engagement.
- Engage and partner with clients on billable project work, serving as a client leader and/or subject matter expert where appropriate.
- Lead by example, demonstrating commitment to clients by undertaking the work actively on select client project opportunities.
- Understand the market, including "Best Practices," and evidence-based and research-based design.
- Collaborate with the Regional Director, Regional Process Director, Office Practice Leader, and Market Leaders to ensure that the business plan bottom line initiatives are successfully implemented.
- Achieve at a minimum the firm’s profitability goals for the market each year.
- Recruit and develop top-tier talent and expertise to build a high-performance team, assessing, mentoring, and coaching staff to develop future leaders in your market.
- Create and execute strategy, creating and implementing plans that improve the regional market by advancing client engagement and development, market differentiation, brand recognition, and team building/leadership in concert with firm-wide goals.
- Grow the top line of the regional market by identifying and actively pursuing new target clients as well as nurturing existing ones.
- Build a team of Market Leaders to implement strategies locally, helping smaller offices grow until size and impact require a Market Leader.
- Work with the Executive Director of the Region and the Health Practice National Leaders to build regional and office business plans and strategies.
- Focus most of your time on strategic activities and top-tier client pursuits that support the growth and impact of the health market regionally, including external brand opportunities.
- Focus your time on client and team leadership responsibilities engaged directly on projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- Current Registration/Licensure in Architecture, Interior Design or Engineering preferred.
- Additional certifications and/or training relevant to this role are preferred.
- Minimum of 18 years of experience with a proven track record of strategic growth, market and team leadership, and business development success in the Health Market.
- Strong presentations skills are essential.
- Exceptional client and people leadership skills are required.
- Strong business acumen and proven ability to create and execute strategy is needed.
- Professional acumen and maturity demonstrated by the ability to communicate authentically and respectfully is essential.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing, accountable teams.
- Sound judgement and a sound approach regarding risk management and mitigation.
- Some travel is required.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $180,800 to $226,000 annually. This salary range is the range we believe is the anticipated range of possible base compensation at the timing of the posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for the position. Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
Schedule
Full-time position with some travel required.
