Regional Field Operations Supervisor

This position requires a combination of office and field work with frequent travel throughout the assigned region. Travel outside the region, including overnight travel, may be required up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and supervision to Regional Service Technicians and Onsite Supervisors.
    • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and development planning with direct reports.
    • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
    • Recognize strong performance while addressing performance concerns through coaching, corrective action, and documentation.
    • Promote employee engagement and serve as a positive leader who exemplifies IPS culture and values.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development
    • Partner with Human Resources and Operations leadership to recruit, interview, and select qualified field technicians.
    • Participate in hiring decisions for Regional Service Technicians and Onsite Supervisors.
    • Support onboarding of new technicians through structured orientation, field mentoring, and technical training.
    • Evaluate technician competencies and identify opportunities for advancement and succession planning.
    • Assist with workforce planning and staffing recommendations to support operational needs.
  • Training & Technical Excellence
    • Develop and deliver technical training to improve technician performance and consistency.
    • Coordinate manufacturer certifications, continuing education, and required licensing.
    • Mentor technicians to strengthen technical skills, troubleshooting abilities, and customer service.
    • Ensure field personnel remain current with company standards, industry best practices, and evolving technologies.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Quality Assurance & Operational Excellence
    • Conduct routine field quality inspections on service and installation projects.
    • Verify work complies with IPS quality standards, customer expectations, manufacturer specifications, and applicable codes.
    • Analyze quality inspection results, technician performance, and customer feedback to identify coaching opportunities.
    • Implement corrective actions and process improvements to improve operational consistency.
    • Provide field support for complex technical issues and assist technicians with problem resolution when needed.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Promote and reinforce a culture of safety throughout the assigned region.
    • Conduct field observations to ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
    • Ensure technicians maintain required certifications, licenses, and training.
    • Participate in incident investigations and recommend corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Operational Management
    • Review and approve technician timecards and ensure accurate payroll reporting.
    • Monitor technician productivity, labor utilization, and operational performance.
    • Coordinate staffing resources with Project Managers and National Accounts leadership.
    • Assist with scheduling priorities and emergency service response as operational needs require.
    • Recommend operational improvements that enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Customer & Business Partnership
    • Build strong relationships with customers through professional communication and responsive leadership.
    • Address customer concerns related to field execution, technician performance, and service quality.
    • Conduct customer site visits to reinforce IPS's commitment to excellence.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers, Sales, and Operations to deliver consistent service across all National Accounts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire alarm, security, life safety, low-voltage systems, or related field.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of service and installation practices within the life safety or security integration industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop technical employees.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and company software systems.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Manufacturer certifications relevant to IPS product offerings.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience supporting National Accounts customers and operations.
  • Lenel Certification and Proficiency preferred.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in active construction environments, and access customer facilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and driving.
