Regional Engineering Manager
Job Description
To oversee and manage the delivery of consistent operational processes and results for a 10 – 15 sites across the US.
Provides engineering expertise, and related functions to site based Engineers.
Led scope definition, design, budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, purchasing, cost estimating and control, implementation, system integration, documentation, report writing, start-up, and training.
Provides leadership and direction to lower level engineering staff.
Sector engineering & innovation strategy
Leads the definition, development, implementation, and management of the stage gate process for the implementation of process based continuous improvement & innovation projects from opportunity identification through delivery/stabilization.
CI roadmap
Develops, maintains, and executes the CI roadmap that aligns with sector strategy, accounting for both internal and external process and financial improvement.
Project management and engineering functions
Directs and performs project management and engineering functions, including (but not limited to): scope definition, design, budgeting, scheduling, line layouts, purchasing, cost estimating and control, implementation, system integration, documentation, report writing, start-up and training.
Safe mechanical and automated systems and processes
Designs and installs safe mechanical and automated systems and processes.
Field Engineering team
Manages, leads, supports and develops the Field Engineering team within sector operations across the USA and Canada.
Project management
Selects and manages outside engineering as required to meet project, customer, product, and capacity requirements.
External vendors and contractors
Selects and manages use of external vendors and contractors for engineering and maintenance-related projects.
Technology enhancements
Stays abreast of technology enhancements within the industry. Considered expert by others within the field.
People management
Provides management of Project Engineers, Senior Project Engineers and/or Engineering Technicians as assigned, including People Management responsibilities.
Continuous improvement projects
Leads and directs large, multi-site continuous improvement projects and implementation of solutions.
Customer partnerships
Partners with customer to develop requirements and define solution sets.
New business partnerships
PARTNERS WITH BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ON POTENTIAL NEW BUSINESS TO DETERMINE ENGINEERING IMPACT.
Business cases
Develops business cases related to capital projects, including associated project plans and cost estimates.
Approval processes
Navigates approval processes and manages installation of capital improvements.
Qualifications
- BS degree in an engineering field, with particular emphasis on Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Facilities, and/or Maintenance Engineering, required
- 7+ years of experience in engineering, with particular emphasis on complex distribution center implementation projects or engineering management, required
- Three to five years of project management experience in a Distribution/Fulfillment and/or engineering environment, required
