Regional Director of Operations Phoenix, Arizona (Arizona residency required) We're partnering with a private equity backed physician practice management organization focused on specialty care. They're hiring a Regional Director of Operations to lead their Southwest region: a large Arizona practice partnership plus smaller markets in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles County. The region covers roughly 55 locations and more than 100 providers, with a team of practice managers and regional leaders reporting in. This is a role for an operator who is equally comfortable in a monthly operating review and on the floor of a busy clinic. The physicians are true partners in this model. The right person earns their trust by knowing the numbers, showing up in the practices, and following through, while moving the organization's broader strategic initiatives forward. What You’ll Do Take ownership of regional operational performance, partnering closely with physicians and practice leaders to establish goals, develop action plans, and achieve measurable results. Facilitate monthly business and operating reviews, analyzing financial and operational metrics to identify trends, uncover performance gaps, and implement targeted solutions. Work directly with individual practices to improve provider and staff productivity, patient panel management, and the effective use of EMR systems and workflows. Lead the operational implementation of new payer and strategic partner relationships, collaborating with IT, analytics, and centralized operations teams to establish reporting, infrastructure, and pilot initiatives. Support the launch and execution of new care delivery models, programs, and operational initiatives throughout the region. Recruit, develop, mentor, and manage a high-performing regional operations team, including onboarding new leadership talent. Provide senior leadership and physician partners with clear, concise updates regarding operational plans, challenges, performance, and progress. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making across the regional organization. What You Bring 10+ years of progressive healthcare operations experience, including leadership within multi-site physician practices, specialty groups, or similar healthcare organizations with P&L responsibility. Demonstrated success leading practice managers and improving operational performance through hands-on leadership and direct engagement. Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to interpret data, identify opportunities, and translate insights into effective business decisions. Proven ability to establish trust, influence stakeholders, and build strong, collaborative relationships with physicians and clinical leaders. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; MHA, MPH, MBA, or another relevant master’s degree preferred. Experience with Medicare programs and/or EMR optimization is highly desirable. Previous experience in a private equity-backed, rapidly growing, or highly entrepreneurial healthcare environment is preferred. Location & Travel Candidates must reside in Arizona, with a strong preference for the Phoenix metropolitan area. Approximately 85% of the role will be focused within Arizona. California travel will initially be approximately two days per month, transitioning to approximately two days per quarter as the role becomes established.
