Job Summary

The University of Michigan seeks a Major Gift Officer to build philanthropic relationships and inspire transformational support for the liberal arts and sciences. This role involves engaging with alumni, parents, and friends to discuss student support, scholarships, and LSA priorities.

What You'll Do

  • Talk to alumni about their experience on campus and the path they've taken since graduation.
  • Cultivate potential donors and steward existing donors to ensure they recognize the impact of their giving.
  • Partner with academic departments or programs to help them receive major gifts.
  • Report directly to the Executive Director for Central States Fundraising and work with other team members on project-based assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • One to three years of previous experience in fundraising or a related relationship-building field.
  • Experience working and collaborating with a variety of partners.
  • Demonstrated written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of business productivity tools such as Google Workspace or Microsoft Office and video conferencing applications (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).
  • Experience working with sensitive and confidential data.
