Responsibilities
- Management of multiple (3-5) Data Center Managers (DCMs) or Lead Data Center Technicians (DCTs) with responsibilities for the operations and maintenance of facilities, installations, and client demands in multiple Data Centers
- Tracking of key metrics and KPIs of Operations teams tasks and responses
- Assurance that all key facility infrastructure and security monitoring systems are operational
- Escalation of any system, process, or administrative issues across various/all departments within the organization
- Track Preventative Maintenance schedules ensuring equipment remains in proper working condition and DataBank meets its commitments to maintain various Data Center certifications/compliances (SOC, SSAE-18, etc.)
- Ensure Policies and Procedures are met and consistent amongst all regional DCMs as well as ensuring all regions remain consistent
- Ensure safety rules and procedures are followed and that Company property is in safe and operational condition to achieve the best working conditions possible for all employees
- Ensure security rules and procedures are followed
- Plan and implement a continual work schedule to maintain staffing levels of data centers
- Oversee contractor’s performance and skills are in line with producing the desired outcome; ensure all DCMs inspect outside contractor/vendor work upon completion and standards of workmanship and safety are maintained
- Track and resolve all ‘exceptions’ found during PM activities and report back to the respective departmental groups of work being completed; forward all paperwork to the appropriate individuals for record keeping
- Build and maintain a strong relationship with customers/clients
- Provide focus on plans to improve production efficiency and/or achieve cost reduction on OpEx, PUE, End of Life equipment, and system enhancements
- Manage/evaluate PUE at the facility via the BMS system to ensure facility is operating efficiently
- Ensure training of all DCTs to understand the functionality of the BMS system so they can react accordingly to any unexpected issue at the site
- Handle departmental resource planning and budgeting
- Metrics Management: Install interval, Overtime management, Task/productivity trending, PM completions
- Well versed in best practice DC Operations procedures
- Ability to identify, construct, and deploy new policy & procedures
- Process development skills
- Plan and execute on DC operational technical training
- Solid background in Incident Response Procedures
- Effective communicator to keep several sites and staffs working and following standard policy & procedures
- Confident decision maker and motivator that engenders confidence with a technical DC operations staff
- Budget and planning experience
- Confident presenter to client base
- Project completions and closures
- Quality Assurance tracking
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferred
- 5 years experience managing, supervising, or leading Data Center Technicians
- Fantastic written and verbal communication
- Strong understanding of all data center components including HVAC, UPS, servers, etc.
- Data Center background, preferred
