Regional Campaign Strategist [Term-Limited]

This position is a three-year term-limited role eligible for remote work in the United States and is part of a collective bargaining unit represented by ACLU Staff United (ASU).

About the role

The ACLU seeks to fill multiple full-time positions for Regional Campaign Strategist in the National Political Advocacy Department (NPAD). The NPAD builds power to achieve an accountable, representative democracy with ambitious goals across Reproductive Freedom, Democracy and Voting Rights, Systemic Equality, Immigration, Trans Justice, Criminal Justice, and other core issues. The department conducts analysis, develops policy, crafts campaigns, and drives impact across legislative, administrative, and electoral levers. We partner across the ACLU to support national efforts and amplify affiliate priorities while centering principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to campaign planning, including developing goals, tactics, and plans to achieve outcomes on specific issue areas as assigned by the Regional Lead.
• Execute and embed priority affiliate legislative or advocacy campaigns.
• Plan, design, and facilitate in-person and virtual meetings and events in priority jurisdictions in partnership with ACLU affiliates.
• Develop strong affiliate relationships and utilize a variety of campaign tactics and tools.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, affiliate staff, and national staff, including policy staff within NPAD.
• Develop campaign goals, plans, strategies, tactics, and budgets to serve the organization’s policy outcomes.
• Track program progress to goal and metrics through standardized reporting.
• Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting priorities based on the changing external environment.
• Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Flexibility in work schedule and location, including national travel as programming demands and nontraditional work hours.

Requirements

• Substantive experience designing campaign strategy and executing campaign plans and tactics.
• Experience with issue advocacy and/or electoral campaigning at the federal, state, or local levels, including campaign management experience.
• Experience working in and navigating coalition spaces.
• Experience with events production, logistics, and/or project management.
• Comfort with policy, including the ability to efficiently and effectively weave policy objectives into campaign execution.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines while remaining composed under pressure.
• Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Strong independent work ethic and team collaboration skills.
• Access to a major airport and the ability to travel substantially.

Pay

The annual salary for this position is $142,694 (Level F), reflecting the salary for a position based in New York, NY.
