About the Role
The Regional Business Director (RBD), Long Term Care (LTC) will lead LTC commercial activities for an assigned geography, establish a team of LTC Account Managers, execute marketing strategies, and ensure a successful launch. The RBD will supervise and lead an LTC-focused account management team leveraging a highly sophisticated digital infrastructure. This is a cross-functional front-line leader role responsible for LTC sales performance at a regional level, acting as a product champion and assessing key stakeholders and future trends within the marketplace. The position is field-based and will require travel as needed to develop internal and external relationships.
Responsibilities
- Supervise LTC-focused operations of the Region, including driving results, hiring and coaching, account manager development, performance management, and assignment of key "priority" accounts in LTC settings.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the Region, balancing live/virtual interactions and prioritizing team efforts.
- Plan, organize, and drive performance to achieve business potential through coaching and influence of direct reports.
- Partner closely with the Market Access account team to ensure appropriate pull-through, knowledge of market access dynamics in LTC settings, and effective coordination and communication.
- Support development of assigned accounts, including pharmacies, while delivering high-quality customer service and promoting appropriate diagnosis and product use.
- Identify key account decision-makers and initiate opportunities to engage with Axsome HQ.
- Maintain required technical expertise to respond accurately to questions regarding products, marketing, policies, and business-related issues.
- Work with direct reports to understand and execute established expectations, improving selling skills, product knowledge, and capabilities through coaching.
- Lead by example in live and virtual engagements, planning and conducting meetings with Region and Market Access teams.
- Develop and implement the LTC Region business plan, manage the Region budget, and oversee P&L in alignment with regional and national expectations.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and processes for self and team.
- Travel overnight as needed for business purposes.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- BA or BS required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of field leadership experience and/or payer account management, with demonstrated sales success and increasing responsibility.
- Previous pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical marketing/sales experience preferred, with at least 3–5 years in a first-line leadership role.
- Proven ability to lead others to success through coaching and influence.
- Successful LTC/hospital/health system sales leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated experience delivering outstanding results and developing others to their potential.
- Proven track record in attracting and retaining top talent.
- Current or recent psychiatry disease experience strongly preferred.
- Successful launch experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to strategize within teams using differential resources to reach business goals.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently under aggressive timelines in a dynamic environment.
- Must live within the territory’s geography.
- Comfortable with uncertainty and high expectations.
- Market access experience a plus.
- Strong digital marketing aptitude.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
Pay
The anticipated salary range for this role is $195,000 - $235,000. The salary offer will be based on experience, qualifications, internal equity, and location.
