Regional Assistant Supervisor

About the role

The State of Alaska Division of Elections is seeking a Regional Assistant Supervisor to support the Region 4 Elections office in Nome. This position assists the Election Supervisor and performs a wide range of administrative and elections management tasks.

Responsibilities

• Inventory ordering and management
• Equipment management and testing
• Polling place procurement
• Election worker recruitment, training, and payment
• Ballot accountability and delivery to polling places
• Supervision of temporary employees hired for the election cycle
• Voter education and public outreach projects

Requirements

• Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
• Three years’ experience as an assistant supervisor or supervisor in an agency with multifaceted operations, or two years of work experience as an Election Clerk III

Qualifications

Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.

Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve; demonstrates responsible behavior.

Supervision: Ability to supervise, evaluate, and train temporary staff; able to communicate effectively with temporary staff on expectations and assigned tasks.
