Regional Assistant Director

About the Role

The EAOP Regional Assistant Director is an experienced K–14 academic preparation professional who works independently and is focused on increasing college access and academic preparedness for program participants. The individual will manage outreach initiatives, deliver grade-appropriate college readiness advising, and supervise university mentors. Additionally, the individual will expand the program’s outreach efforts by building partnerships with K–14 schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations to support and increase postsecondary enrollment. This is a full-time, 2-year career position.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a wide range of academic preparation programming.
• Develop and maintain program visibility in schools.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with K-14 and higher education institutions and/or community entities.
• Develop collaborative relationships with other college-going programs.
• Manage outreach initiatives and deliver grade-appropriate college readiness advising.
• Supervise university mentors.
• Build partnerships with K–14 schools, higher education institutions, and community organizations to support and increase postsecondary enrollment.

Requirements

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Experience

• 4 - 7 years of related experience.

Minimum Requirements

• Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs serving a diverse student population.
• Strong knowledge of up-to-date information on K-12 and higher education policies and issues, and ability to assess their impact on program strategies.
• Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions (UC, CSU, CC, etc.), admissions and financial aid requirements, and the ability to interpret policies and procedures to youth, parents, and school representatives.
• Knowledge of youth and adolescent development theory, including issues facing low-income, first-generation urban youth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, school counselors, principals, teachers, and community contacts.
• Strong knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
• Demonstrated cultural competency with respect to race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
• Strong communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students regarding postsecondary opportunities and careers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the California Community College Higher Education System, its admission requirements, and outreach services.

Pay

The full salary range for the Regional Assistant Director is $59,500.00 - $102,300.00 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $68,250 annually. Placement within this range is based on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.
