About the role
The Regional Advertising Director will serve as the lead advertising revenue driver and business contact for three weekly newspapers in South Carolina for Evening Post. This position is key to organizational growth in the Pee Dee and surrounding areas by generating client revenue from advertising, events, and agency services. The role involves leading the advertising sales team, driving individual revenue through new business development, and managing expenses to ensure profitability for these markets. An entrepreneurial mindset, strong leadership skills, and active community involvement are critical.
Responsibilities
- Achieve monthly and annual departmental revenue goals while growing total revenue creatively and rapidly.
- Provide leadership, management, and support for the advertising staff covering the three weekly publications.
- Support a team of advertising account executives through 1:1 coaching, training, sales strategy development, and participation in client pitches and meetings.
- Focus on new business development, including cold calling, cold emails, client needs assessments, and long-term partnership presentations.
- Manage an expanding account list through outside sales efforts with post-sale team support.
- Plan and execute creative sales strategies for events, promotions, and digital advertising campaigns.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of competitive media, market research, and market share growth opportunities.
- Stay updated on digital advertising capabilities and the digital landscape.
- Partner with in-house marketing agency King & Columbus to secure agency clients and digital marketing partnerships.
- Be visible in the local community by attending relevant business and community events to engage with key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, execute presentations, and maximize sales opportunities with active and new accounts.
- Develop sales proposals and deliver client presentations.
- Collaborate with editors and reporters to identify local revenue and audience growth opportunities.
- Monitor and analyze competitive advertising rates and recommend adjustments to remain competitive.
- Track competitive event and digital media for trends, threats, and opportunities, implementing strategies based on findings.
- Input all client/prospect information and sales activity into HubSpot CRM.
- Represent The Post and Courier at community events and networking opportunities.
- Participate in Evening Post Publishing advertising management meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field (preferred).
- Digital marketing, advertising, and/or media sales experience (required).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of management experience.
- Proven ability to meet revenue goals.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to relate well to clients, business leaders, and coworkers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with digital tools, including social media, digital analytics, and understanding of digital market trends.
- Hands-on media sales training experience.
- History of consultative selling across print and digital platforms.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must reside in Horry County or a nearby area.
Skills

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret marketing and advertising materials, market data, and business periodicals.
- Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, and forecasting to determine rates and calculate figures.
- Logical problem-solving skills, including data collection and drawing valid conclusions in non-standardized situations.
Work Environment
- Close eye work on a computer, continuous sitting, and constant walking/standing.
- Light to moderate lifting (15-20 pounds).
- Local travel is required.
