About the role
The Regional Admissions Specialist reports to the Assistant Vice President of Admissions. The position is based regionally and requires candidates to live in Charlotte, NC or the surrounding area.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned recruitment territory, including travel to high schools, attending off-campus events, and conducting prospective student appointments and follow-up meetings.
- Establish relationships with targeted community college Transfer Advisors in assigned territories, focusing on Central Piedmont Community College, Davidson Davie Community College, Forsyth Technical Community College, and Cape Fear Community College.
- Conduct aggressive outreach to targeted charter schools within the assigned territory that align with the university's academic offerings and immersive learning approach.
- Facilitate the successful submission of applications by establishing strong relationships with school counselors in the assigned territory.
- Travel to Raleigh to participate in large-scale on-campus recruitment events.
- Manage student applications in assigned territory and make independent decisions on applications based on grades, test scores, interviews with counselors, etc., presenting borderline applicants to the Admissions Committee at weekly meetings.
- Counsel prospective first-year students on navigating the admissions process and financial aid, and educating them about the institution.
- Regularly engage with families to manage and support their student's college admissions application and onboarding experiences.
- Represent the University professionally, positively, and proactively.
- Interact with diverse populations of students, family members, counselors, and the public.
- Travel overnight and multiple days or weeks as required.
- Perform other job-related duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university
- Three years of recruitment, sales, or administrative experience, preferably related to higher education or other related experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, outstanding organizational skills, ability to consistently meet deadlines and handle information confidentially, self-motivation, and ability to work independently and with minimal direction
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and car insurance
- Availability for evening and weekend work and overnight travel
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Prior Experience
- Prior experience as a college admissions processes, higher education administration, or professional experience in marketing or sales
- Experience with Slate, Higher Education CRM
