About the role
The University of South Alabama’s department of New Student Recruitment is seeking a Regional Admissions Counselor for Huntsville, Alabama and the surrounding area. The successful candidate will reside in Huntsville or its vicinity and will travel extensively throughout the region.
Responsibilities
- Travel extensively to high schools and colleges in Huntsville and surrounding areas to recruit prospective students, working with a high level of autonomy.
- Make presentations to audiences of various sizes.
- Mail notices to students on a regular basis.
- Prepare a systematic travel schedule based on marketing surveys and statistics.
- Manage assigned territories, including preparing reports and maintaining and analyzing statistics.
- Coordinate volunteer recruitment programs involving alumni and parents.
- Attend meetings, events, college fairs, and other functions, which may require overnight and weekend stays.
- Collect, review, and analyze admissions documentation for prospective students seeking admission, transfer, or readmission to the University of South Alabama.
- Meet strategic enrollment goals established by the Office of Enrollment Services and communicate regularly with the Office of New Student Recruitment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date reporting to reflect outcomes of recruitment efforts.
- Collaborate with university professionals and disseminate the University’s message to prospective students and families.
- Correspond professionally with prospective students via telephone, letter, email, and social media.
- Counsel prospective students and families.
- Periodically travel to the USA main campus for meetings and training.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with high school and community college counselors.
- Access student files and determine status information.
- Communicate University admission requirements and policies by phone, letter, or in-person.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable University, state, and federal regulations.
- Move boxes and cases weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance.
- Work the defined schedule and additional hours as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama.
- Must reside in Huntsville, Alabama or the surrounding area.
- An equivalent combination of education or experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in enrollment services or in a higher education setting.
Schedule
- Full-time, regular position.
- Working days: Monday – Friday.
- Working hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with additional hours as required.
