About the Role

The Assistant Manager is an hourly employee responsible for the operation and supervision of a theatre and its employees, acting as a representative of Regal in alignment with its mission statement and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and administer all theatre policies.
  • Train, develop, coach, and supervise non-management employees.
  • Perform all staff positions as required.
  • Operate all projection and audio-visual equipment, including film handling (threading, building-up, tearing down) and maintenance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all systems within the facility, including booth and projection technology, TMS operation, and related skills.
  • Ensure required alcohol certification and training are current where applicable.
  • Monitor risk management, including employee and patron safety, loss prevention, emergency situations, and accident reporting.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Count, deposit, and reconcile all receipts (cash, credit cards, coupons, gift cards, checks, etc.).
  • Comply with dress code and complete the management certification program.
  • Interview, hire, schedule, coach, counsel, and terminate employees (with oversight from the General Manager or senior management).
  • Administer all applicable HR paperwork and uphold company policies.
  • Control costs, including direct operating expenses, purchasing and ordering concession/café stock, and managing inventory.
  • Supervise theatre maintenance, including minor repairs and coordinating large maintenance concerns.
  • Manage marketing and promotions of feature films, schedule showtimes, and ensure timely delivery of showtimes to proper channels.
  • Read and understand training materials on topics such as sexual harassment and discrimination.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager or other senior managers.

Qualifications

  • At least three months of supervisory experience, or 6 months of theatre experience with completion of the Cast Certification Program, or a combination thereof (subject to VP approval).
  • If duties include selling/serving alcohol, must be of legal age and complete any required state/local training and Regal’s Responsible Beverage Server training.

  • Language Ability: Strong public speaking skills; effective oral and written communication with employees, vendors, and corporate staff; active listening and clear explanation of information.
  • Math Ability: Perform accurate calculations, identify and correct errors.
  • Reasoning Ability: Identify problems, gather data, evaluate information, recognize alternatives, and recommend solutions; work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Computer and Office Skills: Proficient with PC platforms, basic office programs (email, word processing, spreadsheets), copiers, and filing systems; attention to detail.
  • Personal Skills: Interface effectively with customers, the public, and coworkers; sensitivity to others' feelings; set goals, budget time, and prioritize tasks.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise employees, including training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, resolving problems, and disciplining (under General Manager oversight).

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
