About the Role

The full-time Assistant Manager is an hourly employee responsible for the operation and supervision of a theatre and its employees, acting as a representative of Regal in alignment with the company’s mission statement and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Regular and consistent attendance.
  • Upholding and administering all theatre policies.
  • Training, developing, coaching, and supervising non-management employees.
  • Performing all staff positions as required.
  • Operating all projection and audio-visual equipment, including film handling (threading, building-up, tearing down) and maintenance.
  • Maintaining working knowledge of all systems within the facility, including booth and projection technology, maintenance, programming, TMS operation, and related skills.
  • Ensuring required alcohol certification and training are current where applicable.
  • Monitoring risk management, including employee and patron safety, loss prevention, emergency situations, and accident reporting.
  • Ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Counting, depositing, and reconciling all receipts (cash, credit cards, coupons, gift cards, checks, etc.).
  • Compliance with dress code policies.
  • Completion or progress toward the management certification program.
  • Reviewing and understanding the Regal Operations Manual (ROM).
  • Interviewing, hiring, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and, with oversight, suspending or terminating employees in accordance with company policies and HR guidelines.
  • Administering all applicable HR paperwork and policies.
  • Controlling costs, including direct operating expenses, purchasing and ordering concession/café stock, and managing inventory and auditing processes.
  • Supervising theatre maintenance (building and grounds), including minor repairs and coordinating qualified personnel for larger maintenance concerns.
  • Marketing and promoting feature film engagements, scheduling showtimes, and ensuring timely delivery of showtimes to proper channels.
  • Reading and understanding training materials on subjects such as sexual harassment and discrimination.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the General Manager or other senior managers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (if not currently a high school student).
  • At least three months of supervisory experience, or 6 months of theatre experience with completion of the Cast Certification Program, or a combination thereof. Leadership potential may also be considered with VP approval.
  • If duties include selling/serving alcohol, must be of legal age and complete any legally required state/local training, as well as Regal’s Responsible Beverage Server training.

Skills

  • Language Ability: Strong public speaking skills; effective oral and written communication with employees, vendors, and corporate staff; active listening and clear explanation of information.
  • Math Ability: Perform calculations accurately and identify/correct errors.
  • Reasoning Ability: Identify problems, gather relevant data, evaluate information, recognize alternatives, and recommend solutions. Work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Computer and Office Skills: Proficient with PC platforms and basic office programs (email, word processing, spreadsheets). Operate copiers and office equipment, manage filing systems, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Personal Skills: Interface effectively with customers, the public, and coworkers; exhibit sensitivity to others’ feelings; establish goals, budget time, and set priorities.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise employees, including training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, resolving problems, and disciplining employees under the direction of the General Manager.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
