Reg Safety Superintendent

About the Role

We are seeking a Regional Safety Superintendent to join our team. This role involves conducting regular job site inspections, overseeing safety programs, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular job site inspections and Job Behavior Observations (J.B.O.’s) focusing on:
• The Four Objectives of Safety Management
• Observing and correcting unsafe acts and at-risk behavior
• Evaluating General Foreperson knowledge of safety training programs and supervisory skills
• Identifying job site hazards
• Evaluating Crew Foreperson knowledge of safety training responsibilities
• Observe and report on proper work techniques in accordance with the Forepersons’ Manual & Region Policy Manual
• Verify required documentation
• Oversee data collection, input, and distribution of reports from J.B.O.’s
• Monitor regional office files for compliance with required documentation
• Assist in General Foreperson orientation and mentoring programs
• Assist with incident investigations, ensuring proper documentation, identifying contributing factors, and recommending appropriate actions
• Ride with General Forepersons to ensure understanding of O.S.H.A. compliance, disciplinary policy, and safety visit procedures
• Ensure implementation of safety training programs, including First Aid/CPR certification, Lift School, Home Study Programs, and regular Foreperson training meetings
• Monitor and review current claims, working with claim examiners and regional insurance adjusters on light duty positions
• Establish relationships with local physicians for modified duty assignments
• Communicate weekly activities, concerns, and problem areas to the Corporate Safety Supervisor
• Advise the Regional Manager on safety trends and assist in setting regional safety goals
• Provide safety coverage for emergency response work as needed
• Participate in scheduled safety teleconference calls

Requirements

• Ability to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods
• Ability to wear necessary PPE
• Valid driver's license and ability to safely drive a company vehicle
• Ability to withstand various weather conditions and traverse different terrains
• Strong communication and confrontation management skills
• Pass a background check and pre-employment drug test

Physical Requirements

The role involves physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, and operating vehicles. Specific physical demands include:

• Rarely: Crawling, lifting over 50 lbs
• Occasionally: Stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, climbing ladders/stairs/trucks, balancing, gripping
• Frequently: Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, range of motion, lifting up to 50 lbs
• Continuously: Seeing, hearing, speaking clearly, sense of touch, manual dexterity
