Job Description

Provides direct patient care and treatment.

  • Prepares patients to be examined by the physician by measuring and recording BP, pulse, temperature, respirations, height, weight, general history and current medication list, recording same in order to facilitate a diagnosis and/or perform physician exams.
  • Performs routine lab tests (UAs, strep screens, etc) as ordered by physician.
  • Performs EKGs, injections, auditory and visual screenings, spirometry, administers medications and records results as ordered by the physician in diagnosing and treating the patient.
  • Documents all clinical findings and patient response to interventions. Provider test results to physicians when available.
  • Assists physicians with procedures by preparing the patient and setting up the room and instruments needed for the procedure and returning room to the previous state.

Responsibilities

Aids in the care of patients ensuring quality care, physical exams, injury care, radiology imaging and other medical services.

  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
  • Assists with completion of referrals, outpatient testing, pre-certification and scheduling.
  • Participates in PI studies. Performs in-office x-rays as ordered by the physicians to facilitate diagnosis.
  • Maintains skills/competency of radiology task and able to demonstrate these for the site supervisor.
  • Operates digital equipment and monitor. Knows how to operate bucky tray, control panel and wall unit.
  • Maintains ALARA and patient shielding as necessary.

Quality Management and Customer Service

  • Handles patient phone calls and inquiries for clinical staff.
  • Follows up or directs all unresolved patient concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Performs daily quality control checks and calibrations on equipment and performs proficiency testing when appropriate in order to maintain quality care and treatment.
  • Documents all calibration records.
  • Completes annual skills, competency checks and annual radiology testing.
  • Succeeds in completing an orientation process that identifies skills to practice in position assignment.

Education and Certifications

  • Registered by ARRT.
  • Licensed to practice in the state where work is being performed.
  • Maintain full compliance with all continuing education requirements for license and registration.
  • CPR certification.

Specialized Knowledge

  • Excellent customer service/communication skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in routine radiography.

Experience

  • One year of experience performing x-rays in a physician’s office, hospital or occupational health center.
  • Relevant clinical experience in a related medical setting.
