Responsibilities
- Prepares procedure room and patient for all studies.
- Properly disinfects all equipment after each patient, following cleaning policies and protocols.
- All dirty linen should be disposed and replaced after every patient.
- Maintains patient flow for efficient daily operations.
- Edits patient regarding ordered procedure and answers any related questions.
- Obtains patient history and written consent for exam.
- Verifies patient information, checks for appropriate ICD-10 codes.
- Utilizes appropriate patient safety screening/consent forms to ensure all safety precautions have been addressed prior to procedure.
- Performs procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Positions patients and selects appropriate equipment necessary to accomplish procedure depending upon the age of the patient and the physical capabilities.
- Monitors patient during procedures; notifies Radiologist of reactions or problems.
- Aids the radiologists when necessary.
- Every effort must be made to minimize patient discomfort.
- Demonstrates competency on all general diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Ensures quality images for all completed procedures prior to releasing patient by reviewing images or sending images to the PACS System, depending on type of procedure.
- Imaging QA’s should be less than 2% per month.
- Runs a pending work report daily to ensure all exams have been properly charged.
- PACS and HMR errors are closely tracked and reported on PI reports following the QA policy.
- The individual error rate should be less than 2%.
- Maintains adequate supplies.
- Responsible for stocking the room, as assigned, at the beginning of each shift and throughout the day to ensure that the room is always ready to perform the required procedures.
- Be aware of supply needs and par levels, and report all items that fall below par level to the designated person.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate Degree; Radiologic Technology; Or completion of Radiologic Tech certificate program.
- Credential(s): Registered Technologist, Radiography Medical Radiologic Technologist Basic Life SupportOr other certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Experience: Required: New Graduate Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience: Education: Associate Degree; Radiologic Technology; Or completion of Radiologic Tech certificate program. Credential(s): Registered Technologist, Radiography Medical Radiologic Technologist Basic Life SupportOr other certification by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)Experience: Previous experience desired
