Refrigeration Technician - 1st Shift

About the role

The Refrigeration Technician 1 records daily readings for ammonia, boiler, and air systems, performs assigned preventive maintenance (PMs), and assists Ammonia Technicians with projects. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential in this small-department role.

Responsibilities

• Record daily readings for ammonia, boiler, and air systems.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance (PMs) in a timely manner.
• Use and maintain a fitted full-face respirator.
• Assist Ammonia Technicians with periodic projects.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 0–2 years of mechanical experience.
• Ability to pass and maintain annual medical and pulmonary fit tests for respirator use.
• Must be in training for at least one year before eligibility to progress to Refrigeration Technician 2.

Skills

• Experience in refrigerated food manufacturing plants.
• Proficiency with technology such as computers and mobile devices preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including climbing ladders/scaffolding, pushing/pulling, kneeling, bending, and lifting objects in excess of 80 lbs.
• Capability to walk or stand for long periods, ascend/descend stairs and ladders.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Environment may be wet or dry with temperatures ranging from -20°F to 110°F.
• Production demands may require overtime and/or evening or weekend scheduling.
