About the role
The Refrigeration Tech position within the Facilities Engineering department at OU Medicine is responsible for implementing and maintaining refrigeration equipment across the organization to support operational and business performance.
Responsibilities
- Researches, designs, and implements facility-wide refrigeration preventative maintenance and repair solutions.
- Ensures refrigeration equipment operates efficiently.
- Repairs and maintains existing refrigeration equipment and associated equipment such as ice machines, water filters, drinking fountains, walk-in coolers/freezers, commercial refrigerators, etc.
- Completes preventative maintenance tasks on time to ensure compliance with the hospital's utility maintenance program.
- Supports all users of applications, equipment, and systems with timely implementation and ongoing maintenance of refrigeration equipment.
- Aids in monitoring by accessing systems on a computer for Building Automation Systems and refrigeration temperature monitoring systems.
- Maintains and enhances a technical body of knowledge.
- Uses tools and equipment appropriately.
- Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 3 years of experience in refrigeration required.
- Active Unlimited Mechanical Journeyman license issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board required.
- EPA 608 Universal Certification Required.
- Clean driving record and current drivers license issued by the State Oklahoma required within 30 days of hire.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and interpret regulations associated with The Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care chapters, NFPA, CDC, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and OSHA.
- Excellent analytical skills to interpret and resolve complex technical issues, sometimes requiring original solutions in circumstances affecting critical HVAC systems and equipment.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to interact with others and discuss complex and sophisticated concepts and systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of equipment normally associated with healthcare HVAC systems.
- Participates in on-call rotations to provide emergency maintenance support outside of regular business hours.
- Knowledge of different refrigeration gases and their uses.
- Ability to work on both HVAC and refrigeration systems.
