Refrigeration-Sheet Metal- Journeyman

About the role
Performs the full range of Journeyman or Master Journeyman level duties for Refrigeration, Plumbing, Piping, Sheet Metal, Electrical, Ironworking, and Welding in the construction, finishing, and repair of buildings. You’ll work with experienced foremen and skilled tradespeople to sharpen your technical abilities, stay current with evolving HVAC practices, and take ownership of your work in the field. This position sets the foundation for long-term growth, whether you're aiming to lead a crew or become a go-to expert in system installations.
Responsibilities
- Perform trade-specific tasks on a construction site
- Oversee the productivity of crew and ensure schedules and deadlines are met
- Perform layout activities and material takeoffs as necessary
- Handle trade-related material, tool, and equipment requisitions
- Perform planned maintenance tasks and equipment start-up with associated documentation
- Conduct quality control inspections and technical troubleshooting/diagnostics
- Interpret mechanical plans and ensure quality installations that meet industry standards
- Refrigeration piping systems: piping layout, installation, brazing, pressure testing, evacuations, charging procedures, and troubleshooting
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- VRF installation experience
- Journeyman or Master License required
- High school degree or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of skills and experience
- Good physical condition and ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Good dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Aptitude for technical problem-solving
- Familiarity with building codes and current laws/regulations
- Ability to maintain clean and orderly tools/work area
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Expert knowledge of trade tools, equipment, and materials
- Keen eye for detail
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy, and hazardous areas
- Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces, and other adverse locations
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel, and crouch
- Work in all types of weather
- Ability to lift, move, and/or carry 50 lbs
