Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough daily inspections and maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems, including air conditioners, compressors, evaporators, and boilers, ensuring proper lubrication, coolant levels, airflow, and defrost cycles.
  • Execute complex repairs and complete overhauls on refrigeration equipment; isolate and service ammonia systems, replace valves and pumps, reset compressors, and calibrate temperature probes and CO2 monitors.
  • Install, replace, and maintain motors, pumps, switches, safety controls, solenoids, and fuses across refrigeration areas, while managing refrigeration parts inventory and maintaining accurate maintenance records.
  • Assist with setup, teardown, fabrication, and installation of plant equipment; support major repairs and construction for plant buildings and stationary machinery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; two-year degree in a specialized maintenance trade preferred.
  • 2+ years of related refrigeration maintenance experience, including knowledge of boilers and ammonia compressors.
  • Ability to safely use air-purifying respirators (APR), Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and obtain Hazmat certification.
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical maintenance skills; ability to obtain necessary licenses such as boiler and forklift certifications. (CARO is a big plus!)
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. and committed to following all company, local, state, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
