Refrigeration Mechanic I - Tahlequah Campus

Major Duties

• Installs, repairs and maintains HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
• Maintains records of work performed.
• Affords assistance to other personnel in the performance of repair and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Maintains assigned tools and equipment.

Knowledge Required By The Position

• Knowledge of HVAC system installation, repair and maintenance.
• Knowledge of relevant construction codes.
• Knowledge of the tools and equipment used in the installation, repair and maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.

Skill Required By The Position

• Diagnostic troubleshooting skill.
• Operational skill of job-related tools, vehicles and equipment.
• Oral and written communication skill.

Guidelines

• International fuel gas codes.
• International mechanical codes.
• University policies and procedures.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
• The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.
• The work is typically performed in an office or stockroom, in a variety of university buildings, and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
• The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals.
• The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
• Ability to maintain regular attendance.

Pay and Benefits

Annual salary $31,116.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave package.
