Job Description
The Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for installation, maintenance, calibrations, overhaul, service, and repair of all levels of refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems throughout the JPS Health Network.
Typical Duties
- Read schematics and interpret manufacturers’ specifications, written and verbal instructions for maintenance and repair of refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on air‑conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems to maintain specified temperature and humidity.
- Inspect and adjust air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems after installation.
- Inspect, calibrate, adjust, lubricate, repair and/or replace components as necessary.
- Maintain equipment inventory, submit requisitions, and communicate with vendors and contractors.
- Observe and practice appropriate safety procedures and EPA protocols for managing refrigeration equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Vocational or technical school training specializing in air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- 3 + years of experience working with air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems, including installation and repair.
- EPA Section 608 Technician Certification – Type Universal.
