About the role
Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems in various settings. This position does not require patient care.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems in commercial buildings, factories, and homes.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems with refrigeration systems.
- Ensure refrigeration systems function properly and efficiently.
- Install and maintain refrigeration piping, valves, and control systems.
- Keep accurate records of all work performed and maintain necessary documentation.
- Respond to emergency calls and perform repairs in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (required).
- Heating and Ventilation Engineer license from the Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters (required).
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience; 1-2 years of experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
Skills
- Knowledge of refrigeration systems, including operation, diagnosis, and repair.
- Familiarity with refrigeration piping, valves, and control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment (20–35 lbs) and work in confined spaces.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Pay
$38.30 - $57.59/hour (Grade 6). Base pay is determined by skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors. Additional compensation may include differentials, premiums, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
Schedule
- 40 scheduled weekly hours.
- Day shift.
- Onsite at 149 Thirteenth Street, Building 149.
