About the role
Join Tyson Foods, where we produce quality hot dogs, cocktails, and sliced meats in a safe environment. This role focuses on the operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems, ensuring adherence to Tyson policies, procedures, and a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain ammonia screw compressor packages for refrigeration, perform routine preventative maintenance, and make repairs to maintain proper food temperatures per USDA and company standards.
- Maintain ammonia evaporators and their control stations to ensure adequate temperatures in specific areas to meet USDA and company standards.
- Maintain ammonia condensers to ensure efficiency and proper liquid levels in ammonia vessels, completing the refrigeration cycle.
- Maintain boilers and steam controls to facilitate processing, cooking, and sanitation based on USDA and production requirements.
- Conduct chemical testing to maintain appropriate water levels for optimum equipment performance and to prevent scaling.
- Maintain ammonia vessels and liquid pumps to supply ammonia or oil to appropriate areas, ensuring required temperatures per USDA and company standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance Program (proof of enrollment required), or
- One year of experience working in Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance, or
- One year of classroom training from a Technical College with a passing grade (proof required), or
- Graduation from a technical college with a certification in Ammonia Refrigeration Maintenance, or
- One year of HVAC experience.
- Basic computer skills to log information, process work orders, and complete documentation, including use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math (percentages, fractions, measurements).
- Flexibility regarding work hours and schedule.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently.
- Ability to stand on hard surfaces for up to 12 hours per day.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, walk, climb, bend, and stoop.
- Repetitive gripping, pushing, and pulling.
- Work in temperature ranges from 40-75 degrees.
- Willingness and ability to perform physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
