Responsibilities
- Lead each group exercise class format as required by MVP Sports Clubs or certifying body.
- Authentically move and execute the fitness element being trained, including safely demonstrating movements.
- Present with a positive, encouraging demeanor to facilitate participant success.
- Maintain a working knowledge of theoretical concepts and keep current with research and trends in the field.
- Maintain certifications and membership in professional organizations.
- Arrive 10 minutes before the start of class, have music ready and cued, programming prepared and start and end class on time.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Ensure the studio is always clean and safe.
- Ensure proper usage and storage of all equipment.
- Resolve member concerns and or refer/introduce members to the appropriate team member who can.
- Enforce club rules and guidelines, taking appropriate action where indicated and reporting any problems to the Group Exercise Manager.
- Secure substitutes for classes and relaying information to the Group Exercise Manager via appropriate channels.
- Contribute to the needs of the team but subbing classes as able.
- Respond to emergencies, notifying the appropriate authority.
- Participate in department events focusing on promoting the club and group fitness.
- Adhere to additional responsibilities and policies, adapting to changes and needs of the company.
- Attend and participate in regular MVP Sports Clubs training sessions as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Current 200-500 Hour certification through Balanced Body, Peak Pilates, STOTT, BASI, or other Accredited Certifying Body.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching various or specific group exercise programs is preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Training. In the event a team member is hired without CPR or First certifications, they will be required to attend training provided by MVP within 60 days and will not be permitted to instruct until such a certification is attained.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Must have physical ability to design & instruct classes according to best practices for safety & quality in alignment with industry standards of certifications.
- Physical Requirements: Bend, stoop, crouch, climb, stand, sit and turn/pivot; Life/lower, push, pull and carry up to 40 lbs; perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, typing, and/or word processing, filing, calculating and use of telephone; See, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
