About the Role
Mid-America Transplant is looking for a Triage Coordinator to join our lifesaving team. This role plays a critical part in our mission by ensuring medical suitability for donation through collaboration and stellar customer service with hospitals, donor families, internal departments, transporters, and community members. Responsibilities
- Collect hospital and patient information and pre-screening criteria on all incoming donor calls
- Obtain and enter accurate referral information into the referral database
- Conduct conversations with appropriate family members to accurately compile the donor’s social and medical history
- Obtain Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) over the telephone and compile hospital medical records into the electronic record system
- Navigate through electronic medical records and understand complex medical history
- Screen potential tissue donors with appropriate processors for suitability
- Communicate with Funeral Homes, Hospitals, and Medical Examiners/Coroners to ensure timely release of potential donors
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical environment or emergency response role required
- Background in and understanding of medical terminology
- Ability to navigate various EMR systems
Schedule
- Three 12-hour night shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
- Training schedule: Monday - Friday, regular business hours for 6-8 weeks
