Referral Triage Coordinator

Mid-America Transplant is looking for a Triage Coordinator to join our lifesaving team. This role plays a critical part in our mission by ensuring medical suitability for donation through collaboration and stellar customer service with hospitals, donor families, internal departments, transporters, and community members. Responsibilities

• Collect hospital and patient information and pre-screening criteria on all incoming donor calls
• Obtain and enter accurate referral information into the referral database
• Conduct conversations with appropriate family members to accurately compile the donor’s social and medical history
• Obtain Donor Risk Assessment Interview (DRAI) over the telephone and compile hospital medical records into the electronic record system
• Navigate through electronic medical records and understand complex medical history
• Screen potential tissue donors with appropriate processors for suitability
• Communicate with Funeral Homes, Hospitals, and Medical Examiners/Coroners to ensure timely release of potential donors

Requirements

• Previous experience in a medical environment or emergency response role required
• Background in and understanding of medical terminology
• Ability to navigate various EMR systems

Schedule

• Three 12-hour night shifts: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM
• Training schedule: Monday - Friday, regular business hours for 6-8 weeks
